Terry Steven Richter, 70, of Etowah, passed away on January 6, 2025. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Eugene and Delores Natzke Richter.
A retired bank officer, he was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. An Eagle Scout (who also raised two Eagle Scouts), he enjoyed coaching softball, was an avid fisherman as well as Civil War historian and follower of politics.
He was a jokester who enjoyed buying the most ridiculous gifts he could find for friends and family. He also enjoyed giving gifts simply to watch the joy they brought.
A member of Biltmore Church in Brevard, where he was also a member of a connect group, he developed a strong faith and gave of his time and energy supporting the Backpack Drive and Compassion International where he and his wife supported five separate children.
Though he really did not like crowds, he loved the crowd of his family; his wife Cynthia; children Eric (Shana), Sean (Ashley) Elizabeth (Craig), Tamara (Christopher) and Timothy (Crystal); seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren and his sister, Sherry Thompson.
A memorial service for Terry will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 9, 2025 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations in Brevard with Rev. Tyler Littrell officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
