Terry F. Runyon, born February 26, 1954, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 71. Terry was preceded in death by his beloved best friend and son, Terry Matthew Runyon, who passed just this past April 2025, as well as his son Scott Bockman who passed in August 2000.
Terry's greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his devoted children: Amy (Eric) Patsch, Carolyn (Greg) Miller, Lindsay Runyon, Kelly (Greg) Nehring, and Derick (Johnna) Bockman. He cherished his 15 beautiful grandchildren-Matthew, Nancilee, Elijah, Kiara, Madison, Tyler, Jeremy, Jake, Joseph, Kyle, Raven, Julia, Kaleb, Cole, and Collin-his two precious great-grandchildren, Asher and Forrest, his three brothers, and several nieces and nephews. Terry also opened his heart and home to his adopted family: Rick, Jessica, Raquel, Eva, and Sebastian Sanchez.
Most of all Terry and his wife Valerie had an amazing life together. While they didn't always love the ideas of what the other wanted them to do (garage sale shopping or cleanup and plant flowers near the pond) they loved to be with one another. They spent endless trips in Quincy Illinois, and made sure to attend every event or sports game with their kids and grandchildren that they were involved in.
Terry loved nothing more than spending time outdoors fishing. You could find him on the Fox River with all his supplies and wagon and plans to be there all night. He had fun letting any of the kids reel in the fish that he caught and wouldn't take the credit for it.
In addition to his love for fishing he followed NASCAR religiously. There were many road trips to go see the races with his; brothers Roy, Blain, and David, his son Terry and daughter Kelly along with Terry's daughter Kiara.
When he was not trying to catch fish, he took care of a bunch of them at his house in the beautiful handmade pond in his backyard. You could definitely relax and be at peace by his pond.
He found happiness in teaching and telling stories, always eager to share his experiences and wisdom with anyone willing to listen and learn.
Terry didn't have the best health. He had endured nearly fifty surgeries. He was the strongest man you could meet, and he rarely complained.
Terry's kindness, love, and humor will be missed by all who knew him. If you knew his humor, you knew his wit, and he was like no one else. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 4 p.m. until the service hour of 7 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, Illinois 60506.
