Terry Rutkowski

Dolores "Terry" Rutkowski, of Sterling Heights, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at the age of 93 in St. Clair Shores. Born on October 21, 1931, in Detroit, Dolores was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Pauza) Swabon. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of familial bonds.

Terry's early years in Detroit were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the bustling energy of the city. She carried the spirit of her upbringing throughout her life, infusing every interaction with thoughtfulness and care. As a young woman, Terry entered the workforce with a quiet determination, eventually finding her niche as a secretary in the Detroit Public School District. Her colleagues would remember her as the heart of the office, always ready with a supportive word and a gentle smile.

Her professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, but it was her role as a mother that truly defined her. Dolores was the devoted wife of Rudolph Rutkowski for 65 years until his passing in 2017 and was a loving mother to her daughter, Karen Parmentier of VA, and sons, Steve Rutkowski of Harrison Twp., and Michael Rutkowski of FL and her beloved five grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She instilled in them the values of compassion and respect, guiding them with a steady hand and an open heart. Her children's accomplishments and happiness were her proudest achievements, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

As we remember Terry, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on the lives of many. Her loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Terry's legacy is one of kindness, grace, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence once did.

Her remains will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp.
