Terry Lee Scates, age 69, of Wheaton, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought strength, wisdom, and unwavering love to all who knew him.

He was born August 31, 1955 in Provo, Utah the son of Leo and Vivian (Housel) Scates. On August 8, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Terry Lynn Edie, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Kris Scates and his wife Amanda of Rogers, Arkansas; two daughters, Tracy Scates of Joplin, Missouri and Janetta Scates and her partner Abigail of Escondido, California; three brothers, Monte Scates and his wife Virginia of Jane, Missouri, Ricky Wolfinbarger and his wife Shonda of Gravette, Arkansas and Vernon Wolfinbarger and his wife Shawna of Gravette, Arkansas; one sister, Carla Mills of Springdale, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Taylor, Skyler, Kristopher, Trey, Breyden, Jax, Taya, Mazakai and Nixon and nine great grandchildren, Sawyer, Sebastian, Saebrym, Selah, Wesson, Laney, Zayden, Olivia and Aiden.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Cliff Scates and Shawn Scates.

Terry lived a life marked by quiet integrity and deep devotion to his family. He worked hard, loved fiercely, and showed up for the people he cared about-always steady, always strong. But those who knew him best also remember his sharp sense of humor, playful spirit, and ability to bring laughter into any room, always having a mischievous twinkle in his eye that never quite faded. Terry made life fun. Whether he was cracking a joke, pulling a lighthearted prank, or just being his lovable self, he brought joy and warmth everywhere he went. His legacy is not only one of loyalty and love, but of laughter, unforgettable memories, and the kind of fun that brings families closer. Terry was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, eating, riding motorcycles, and building things.

Though he has left this world, Terry is now at peace in heaven-whole, healthy, and surrounded by loved ones who went before him. He is surely bringing smiles there, just as he did here.

He is deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
