Terry went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 13, 1954, in Birmingham, Alabama to John Frank Simpkins and Virginia Louise Summerlin Simpkins, Terry lived a life characterized by service, faith, and love for the simple pleasures that make life rich and rewarding.
Terry dedicated many years of his life to public service, working diligently until his retirement from the United States Postal Service. His unwavering commitment to his work left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the many lives he touched through his role. Terry's work ethic and sense of community didn't wane with retirement; he continued to contribute to society by working part time at Winn-Dixie and Russell Lands, where his kind-hearted nature and friendly demeanor were well-loved.
An active worshipper at Victory Baptist Church, Terry's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. His love for Jesus Christ was evident in his every action, and he sought to embody the Christian virtues of charity, forgiveness, and humility. The fellowship he found at church was a source of great comfort and strength, carrying him through life's joys and challenges alike.
Terry's passions extended to the cherished pastimes that occupied his leisure hours. A passionate and loyal Alabama Football fan, he reveled in the camaraderie and spirit of the game. His collection of baseball cards and model trains was more than a hobby-it was a testament to his love for detail and history.
No stranger to the harmonies of bluegrass and gospel music, Terry found solace and joy in the melodies that resonate with the soul. His love for fishing mirrored the patience and tranquility that he carried in his heart, sitting by the water's edge reflecting on the bounties of creation.
As we bid farewell to Terry, we celebrate not just the life he led but the countless ways in which he touched the hearts of those around him. Terry lived as a testament to the power of faith and the quiet strength of a life well-lived. While the earthly choir has lost a voice, we take solace in imagining the angelic chorus gaining a member whose spirit sings with the love of the Almighty. Terry Simpkins will be deeply missed yet remembered affectionately for the legacy of joy, commitment, and faith that he leaves behind.
