Velma- Terry Keith Sutton, 60, of Velma, departed this life on April 3, 2024. He was born on Sept. 11, 1963, in Duncan, to Esther Presgrove. Graduating from Velma-Alma High School in 1981, Terry was a lifelong Comets fan.
He married Kay Ann Hunter on March 25, 1982. The couple made their home in Velma, where they raised their two children, Kole and Keisa. Terry's passion was horses and rodeo but loved being a proud grandfather more than anything.
Saved as a youth at Velma Baptist Church, Terry rededicated his life to Christ when Kole was saved. They were baptized together. Terry was a faithful member of the Velma Baptist Church.
Terry was a friend to everyone and would go out of his way to help anyone. From years of welding projects to more recently mowing and lawn care services in his spare time, Terry kept busy helping others. He loved OU Sooners football as well as softball, the Dallas Cowboys and George Strait. He was such a music fan that he had more than 15,000 songs on his computer and was known to family and friends as the karaoke king.
The ultimate old cowboy soul, Terry was a competitive team roper most of his life. He was a true American and all that it stood for. He loved a friendly game of poker and any old western movie, especially the TV show, Gunsmoke.
During his career, he worked mostly in the oilfield, including almost 30 years with Citation Oil & Gas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Van Presgrove, as well as his in-laws, Cameron and Grace Ann Hunter; two brothers-in-law, Kreg Hunter and Gary Glenn.
Terry is survived by his wife, Kay Ann, of the home; children, Kole Sutton and wife Lisa, of Tulsa; Keisa Sutton, of Velma; grandchildren Emma, Kam and Ella Sutton, of Tulsa; Khloe Johnson and Layken Dawson, of Velma; mother, Esther Presgrove, of Velma; sisters, Lynda Clark and husband Calvin, of Comanche; Shirley McCutchen and husband Carl, of Ardmore; brothers, Leslie Presgrove, of Loco; Tommy Presgrove, of Velma; sisters-in-law, Shelley Presgrove, of Velma; Patty Kelly, of Velma; Kim Glenn, of Healdton; brothers-in-law, Kent Hunter and wife Mary, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; Keith Hunter and wife Ronette, of Marietta as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ty Clark, Rodney Dunn, Michael Faught, Dusty Presgrove, Toby Presgrove, Peyton Presgrove, Kris Glenn, Kyle Hunter, Koby Hunter and Kale Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bryant, Bill Bunn, Charlie Davis, Kenny Don Eason, Danny Foster, Jay Morgan, Ernie Palacol, Mickey Pruitt, Dewayne Richardson, Blake Smith, Citation Oil & Gas employees, the rodeo community and Moose Lodge 2202 members.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Velma Baptist Church in Velma. Pastor Kerry Glasgow will officiate. Family visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Velma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Velma Baptist Church, P.O. Box 249, Velma, OK 73491.

His smile. He always looked at me with such a beautiful smile and when he told me stories about his day he would elaborate with his hands. He always knew how to make me laugh and turn my bad day into a good one. I will miss my friend so much.

I met Terry back in 2003 or 2004. We had a lot of fun singing karaoke together. Even after I moved back to Europe, we kept in touch through Messenger. I always enjoyed the company. He will be missed, even by me. I will keep him in my memories. I love you, big guy. Kay, stay strong. Sincerely, Paul Damhuis, Tilburg, the Netherlands

Terry was always a welcome guest on my microphone when I did my karaoke show in Marlow. My favorite song he sang was "I Believe" by Brooks and Dunn. Now you're with Jesus, my friend...Thoughts and prayers are being lifted
