Mr. Terry Lee Thomas Sr. of the Everett Springs Community passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
Terry was born on November 23, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of the late Agnes Marie Smith White and Donald White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Thomas and Johnny Thomas, and brothers-in-law, Derek Watkins and Ralph Matthews.
He was a Fort Payne High School graduate in Fort Payne, Alabama, and he was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He was the owner of Gordon County Heating and Air, an active member of Sugar Valley Masonic Lodge 733 and the Resaca Daylight Lodge, and affiliated with the Shriners. Before retirement, he was employed with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta as a construction engineer and a former member of Pipe Fitters Local 72 in Atlanta. He attended Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Armuchee, Georgia. He enjoyed spending time with his family, serving his community, farming, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Thomas to whom he was married for 51 years; sons and daughters, Tina Kushman (Bob), Tish Edwards (Billy), Terry Thomas Jr., and Joseph Thomas; grandchildren, Nikki Tredway (Kyle), Jessica Stevenson (Bradley), Brandon Edwards (Erin), Aden Edwards (Storme), Jaslyn Edwards, Brady Thomas, Carter Thomas, Mason Thomas, Layton Thomas; great grandchildren, Ella Stevenson, Charleigh Grace Edwards; brothers and in laws, Terry's twin brother, Jerry Thomas (Lynnette), Larry Thomas, Carlton (Martha) Watkins, Charleene Watkins, Donna Watkins, Michael (Leslie) Watkins, Angela (Carl) Townson, Catherine Matthews, Anita (Michael) Waldrip, Christina Watkins, Maria (Michael) Bates, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service for Mr. Terry Lee Thomas Sr. will be conducted on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 2341 Everett Springs Road, Armuchee, Georgia, with Rev. Dale McConkey and Rev. Wayne Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic graveside rites and Military Honors. Pallbearers serving will include Jerry Thomas, Bob Kushman, Billy Edwards, Kyle Tredway, Brandon Edwards, Aden Edwards, Brady Thomas, Carter Thomas, and Mason Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12th, between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, 711 College Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
