Terry Eugene Wilkes, 77, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet Wilkes, Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
He is survived by his brother Joe Wilkes and Carolyn Wilkes, Nashville, nephews Joe Wilkes II and Teresa Wilkes, Winfield, Alabama and Barry Wilkes and Amy Wilkes, Jacksonville Beach, Florida and niece Danette Wells and Sean Wells, Smyrna, Tennessee. As well as, a host of great nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Uncle Terry. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joe Ezra Wilkes and Rebecca Wilkes, Giles County, Tennessee, and brothers, William Wilkes and Jimmy Wilkes.
Terry was born in Giles County, Tennessee and in 1953, the family moved to Nashville. He graduated as part of the first senior class of Stratford High School, Nashville, Tennessee.
Terry served in the United States Army Infantry from August, 1966 - August, 1968. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and a Purple Heart, among others.
Alongside Janet, Terry owned and was the President of CMI Equipment Sales for over thirty years.
He was a resident of Goodlettsville for over 30 years and was a charter member of the Bakers Market Morning Crew where they solved all the world's and neighborhood's problems. He and Janet gave refuge to countless four-legged creatures and feathered souls who wandered up to their home - hungry, neglected, and needing a forever home. No living thing was ever turned away.
Over his lifetime, Terry wore out several La-Z-Boy recliners rocking away for hours, smoking Carltons, drinking Grey Goose, winning big at the slots, watching Tennessee Vols football (Go Big Orange!), having a great time and living life to the fullest with his many friends.
To know Terry was to love him. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Terry Wilkes' name to Luton United Methodist Church, 8363 Old Springfield Pike, Goodlettsville, Tennessee 37072.

Terry was a great Christian man, Terry and I used to sit in his office, share stories and laugh. Terry was always a great businessman and cared for others. Terry will be missed. My prayers are with his family and friends in the days to come. Terry meant a lot to me throughout his life. I am grateful and blessed to have known Terry.
