Tessie Ioannidis was born Anastasia Masouris to Margarita and Panagyotie Masouris on February 2, 1940, in Zevgolatio, Greece. She was the youngest of four siblings and is survived by her brother Jimmy and her husband Nick.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children and their families. They meant the world to her. Tragically, last year, she lost Patty, the eldest of her three daughters to cancer and had been in deep mourning ever since, unable to recover. She also lost her elder sister Dena Panos and her husband Andrew Panos, this past month.
As a young woman, Tessie was trained as a seamstress and was excellent at her craft, all the while, working alongside her husband throughout her life. Always willing to help and give comfort, she put others before herself, especially the young ones. With a gentle spirit she tried to guide others towards goodness and virtue.
Throughout the year she would follow the traditions and observances of her Greek Orthodox Faith and encouraged those around her to do the same. She loved to bake the traditional Greek pastries and was a gifted cook. Having grown up in war torn poverty, she knew how to make something out of very little, but was grateful for what there was.
A special lady, Tessie will be greatly missed. There are no words to describe the loss her surviving children, extended family and friends feel. May her soul rest with the Lord forever.
Funeral service at 11am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 10830 Downey Avenue, Downey, CA 90241-3720.
