We will gather to celebrate and honor the life of Tevon Sylvester Wade - a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, and dedicated Marine whose presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Born on August 8, 2006, in Los Angeles, California, Tevon was the cherished son of Vanessa J. Wade and embraced with love by his stepfather Terrell Hawkins since the age of three. He was a devoted big brother to Tyrel and Tristin Hawkins and a treasured grandson to Patricia and Cleveland Wade. Tevon's spirit was nurtured by his aunts Sheena Wade and Therese Logan, his uncle Selwyn Wade, and a network of cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family who adored him.

Tevon was raised in an environment filled with love, laughter, and faith. His educational journey took him from Monta Vista Elementary School to California City Middle School and eventually California City High School, where he demonstrated quiet strength and leadership. As the captain of his basketball team, he inspired his teammates to strive for excellence, stay humble, and believe in themselves. His role as the founder of the Black Student Union showcased his commitment to giving voice and unity to his peers.

Beyond his numerous achievements, it was Tevon's heart that truly defined him. He embodied humility, kindness, respect, and protectiveness, always looking out for his family and friends. With a spirit of joy and adventure, he approached life with enthusiasm, tackling every task with excellence and pride.

After graduating high school, Tevon answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Through relentless dedication and hard work, he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal, a testament to his courage, leadership, and determination. During his service, he forged bonds that became lifelong friendships-relationships that transcended mere camaraderie.

Tevon's faith was the cornerstone of his life. Raised in the church, he was shaped by two home congregations that guided his spiritual journey. At just 13 years old, he preached his first sermon at the Power of Love Christian Fellowship of the Antelope Valley, where he was also baptized. His faith illuminated every aspect of his life, evident in his service to others and the grace with which he carried himself.

Tevon's love for music was a significant part of his identity. He delivered his first solo performance of "Go Get Your Blessing" by Mary Mary with such passion that it resonated deeply with all who heard him. This song became emblematic of his spirit-always encouraging others to pursue their blessings and embrace life fully and faithfully.

Tevon was a radiant light-respectful, wonderful, successful, bright, funny, and endlessly kind. He was our protector, our encourager, and a living example of strength. Though his time with us was tragically short, his impact will resonate forever in the hearts of those he touched.

As we gather to remember Tevon, we find solace in the knowledge that he has received the greatest blessing of all-eternal peace with God. While his mission on Earth may be complete, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

Let us honor Tevon's legacy by embracing his love for family, his unwavering faith, his courageous leadership, and his compassionate heart. May we strive to live as he did-with humility, purpose, and joy.

Rest peacefully, Lance Corporal Tevon Sylvester Wade. You have earned your wings. We will forever love you, remember you, and carry you in our hearts.
