Texas Sutson Obituary
Blacksburg - Texas Fernandez Sutson, 87, of 303 W Clairborne Street, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Shelby, North Carolina, she was the widow of the late Lewis Sutson and the daughter of Charlie Fernandez and Cora Huddleson Fernandez. Texas formerly worked as a housekeeper and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church in Shelby, NC .
Surviving Ms. Sutson are her children, Wendell Sutson and Monica Sutson, both of Blacksburg; her grandchildren, Syeta Cierra Sutson and Dalton Sutson, both of Blacksburg; her sisters, Mary Carson and Shirley Fernandez, both of Shelby; and multiple nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Sutson was preceded in death by her siblings, Cloria Davis, Betty Carson, Darcus Paysour, and Obie Fernandez.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:30 pm at the Gordon Mortuary Chapel.
The family will be at the residence.
The family would like to thank the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department and local EMS personnel for their kindness and assistance shown to us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department, 104 East Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
