Thaddeus John Perzanowski, or Ted as many of his friends called him, 85, of Piedmont, SC, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. Thaddeus was born to Polish immigrants John and Sophie Perzanowski in Brooklyn, NY, where he grew up attending church and surrounded by his family. He was a devout Catholic. His love for church and his family would follow him throughout his life.
Thaddeus decided to attend seminary school after high school but soon decided that that wasn’t the path for him. He soon started bartending in NY and found that he was good at it. He served many celebrities, often bringing home autographs from people like Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis Presley for his son. Of course, Thaddeus Junior did not keep those autographs because what little boy thinks that an autograph from Elizabeth Taylor is a big deal? But Thaddeus always had his family on his mind, even at work. Later in life, Thaddeus moved the family to Florida, where he pursued a career in law enforcement and became a deputy in Broward County. While working in corrections, he became known as “Deputy Ski” and was well-liked by the inmates. His likable nature made him able to use his love for God to minister to the inmates. He has many letters and gifts from former inmates thanking him for turning their lives around and leading them to the Lord.
His daughter will remember him for their many summer beach trips and for his absolute love of sports. He often took her to spring training games and taught her how to hit a ball whether it was with a bat, a club or a racket. He was an active and loving father.
The things he passed on most were his love for God and his strong faith. While living in Boca Raton, FL he was very active in his church serving as an usher, a Eucharistic minister, and running the blood drives. He also joined the St Anthony of Padua Fraternity Boynton Beach, an order of Secular Franciscans.
He loved good Rat Pack music and could still belt out Frank Sinatra even at his weakest moments towards the end of his life. He was a strong man with a strong presence, but at the heart of him, he was loving and funny. He loved a good vodka, but most of all, he loved his family so much. He was proud of all of them and loved having them near.
Thaddeus is survived by his son Thaddeus “Ted” Perzanowski, Jr. (Rhonda) and his daughter Deirdre Ruth Gray (Rick), as well as his grandchildren Serena Perzanowski, Ethan Garcia, Morgan Garcia, and Colton Garcia. He also leaves behind two sisters, Irene Pasquale and Joy Girard, and many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, John Perzanowski and Sophie Perzanowski, and daughter Tina Louise Perzanowski.
