STOW - Thane G. Cook, 90, passed away peacefully in his home on November 2, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on August 15, 1935, in Detroit, MI, to his loving parents, Eleanor and Grattan Cook, he later moved to Stow, Ohio, where he served his community as Stow’s Ward 4 councilman for 14 years, and was a founding member of Stow’s Citizens for Non-Partisan Politics.
A proud graduate of Michigan State University and member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, Thane could be found cheering the Spartans on every fall. After earning his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Notre Dame University, Thane spent decades as an engineer for Goodyear Aerospace. His greatest joy in life, however, was his family in whom he instilled the importance of education, his love of theater, and world travel. Although he was a well-traveled man, he enjoyed the simple things in life, and was never known to turn down a good potato chip - or crème brulee.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Faith, and their four children, Lenore Cook, Greg (Traci) Cook, Cindy (Craig) Singleton, and Peter (Kemberly) Cook. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, and numerous friends.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow, 44224.
Friends may call from 4 - 7 PM, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224.
