Theda Tucci Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Theda (Teddi) Rogers Tucci (nee' Spinney) on August 8, 2025, in Danbury, CT, after a long battle with dementia. She was 81 years old.

Teddi was born on January 12, 1944, in Lewistown, ME, to Clough Rogers Spinney and Barbara Houghton. Her parents and her sister, Lydia Kildun (née Spinney), preceded her in death. Teddi is survived by her son, Jeremy Tucci of Ridgefield, CT (Gladys Llantin – Tucci), and their three sons, Chris, Rian, and Evan; her daughter Rebecca Kirwan (née Tucci) of Missoula, MT (James Kirwan) and their two children, Maggie and Eli; her brother, James Spinney and his son, James Spinney; and her nephew, Kevin Kildun.

Teddi earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from UCONN. From 1980 to 2007, she dedicated her career to the Family and Children's Agency of Norwalk, CT. During her time there, she helped develop programs such as the Korean Adoption program, the Therapeutic Foster Care program, and the Identified Adoption program. She advocated for children and participated in the airlift of babies out of Vietnam when the US left in 1973. Teddi's commitment led her to travel to Korea, Vietnam, China, Russia, and Japan. She instilled a love of reading and classical music in her children and grandchildren. She loved to sail, loved lobster rolls and hated cucumbers and the color orange. Rest in peace Grandma Teddibear we love you.

As per Teddi's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Teddi's name to the Family & Children's Agency of Norwalk, CT - https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=3b0a4b
