Thelma Louise Chandler

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma Louise Chandler on July 14, 2025, at the age of 93. Thelma was born on October 27, 1931, in Franklin, Tennessee, to Nolen and Lottie Elen Noe Skinner.
Thelma was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community. She was a faithful Christian and member of Una Church of Christ for over 60 years.
Thelma worked as a nurse at Baptist Hospital for 25 years. After retiring, she gave herself selflessly to various ministries including El Salvador mission trips, Inner City Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Church of Christ Disaster Relief. She provided transportation to shut-ins for various appointments and visited those in nursing homes often. She sent countless cards of encouragement to those who were hurting. She never missed sending birthday greetings in the form of a card to family and friends. She loved children and always had hugs, smiles, and treats for the children at church on Sunday morning. She always greeted everyone with a huge, happy smile and had a great sense of humor.
Her hobbies included traveling, gardening, decorating, entertaining, crafting, and she almost never missed a day of enjoying a big bowl of ice cream.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings, and husband, Joe Chandler. She is survived by two children - Suzanne (Ray) Morris and Mark (Stacy) Williams; three grandchildren – Melissa (Dan) Miller, Matthew (Lauren) Williams, and Brandon (Tyler) Williams; and eleven great-grandchildren - Abby, Caleb, Alissa, Elizabeth, Chloe, Nik, Daniella, Evan, Emma Kate, Sutton, and Crew.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Una Church of Christ, 1917 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. It will be followed by visitation with family and friends until 4:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
