Thelma Reece Drummonds, age 76, of Corbin, Kentucky, was finally healed completely on Saturday, April 19, 2025, after she fought a long five-year battle with cancer. She peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord, surrounded by her family who loved her deeply, and she whom she loved.
Thelma will be remembered for her love of family and others and for her hilarious sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh along with her, and she did a great job of that with all the funny stories her family will cherish forever. Thelma loved her family and protected them fiercely.
Thelma was a member of Eastside Church of God and was devoted to her faith and in her trust of God. She served the Lord and trusted in him through her hardest battles. During her last few days, she wasn't concerned for herself; only for those she loved. She wanted them all to be taken care of after she was gone. She loved us all well, and her absence was felt immediately.
Thelma was born in Blackmont, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel Gilbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jimmy Gilbert (Sharon), Lawrence Gilbert, Minnie Trice, Frances Begley (James), Geraldine Barton (Paul), Mary Hembree (H), and Henry McVay; grandson Elijah Drummonds; her children's father, Paris Drummonds Jr.; daughter-in-law, Karen Reece; and by nephew, Michael Gilbert.
She is survived by her family, Winston Reece; Theresa VanNorstran (Ron), Paris Drummonds (Melissa), Edward Drummonds (Angie), Charles Reece (Carla), Tim Reece, Sherry Crawford (Ronnie), Will Reece (Sheila), Charles Gilbert, and Dolly McVay; grandchildren, Matthew (Paula), Savanna (Brandon), Mikey, Trevor (Krysta), Braxton, Caitlyn (Kade), Brandon, Logan, and Luke; great grandchildren, Levi, Rowyn, Addison, Colt, Rhett, and Apollo; and by a host of nieces and nephews and other family that she loved dearly.
Her legacy will continue on through her children and grandchildren - "We will forever love and miss you! . Her family can hear her saying, "I love you more!"
