Thelma L. Hill, 94, of Burlington, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 29, 1927, in Bonaparte, IA, she was the daughter of Archie W. and Gladys May Huffman Ledbetter. On January 23, 1954, she married Richard Farrell Hill in Monmouth, IL. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2004.
Thelma worked for 6 years at Sylvania as a Line Leader and for 14 years at Winegard Company.
Thelma was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was an avid crafter and especially enjoyed crocheting, making dolls, and baking and decorating cakes. She collected various dolls and Barbie dolls. Some of her fondest memories were time spent traveling around the country with her husband and family in their RV. She attended many Blue Grass music festivals and was a huge Elvis fan.
Survivors include three sons, Edward Hill of Tripoli, IA, David (Patricia) Hill of Mount Pleasant, and Paul (Bev) Hill of Sperry; one daughter, Judy (Terry) Palmer of Burlington; 11 grandchildren including Kimberly Hill and Jason Hill of Davenport whom she raised; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Sandy (Denny) Hunter of Fort Madison.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Parkside First Baptist Church.
The funeral service for Thelma will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Parkside First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service. A Celebration of Life with food and fellowship will be held at Parkside First Baptist Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Parkside First Baptist Church.
