Thelma Ruth Hulett, age 80, of McRae, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 12, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1945 in Helena, Georgia to the late Euston and Nellie Cravey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, René Hulett Henderson, her step-son Brian Wilkes, her sister Eloise Webb, and her brothers Henry and Clifford Cravey.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. James Hammock will officiate, assisted by Rev. Fred Parker. Interment will follow in Helena City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Forrest, Kory Smith, Adam Cravey, Mark Webb, Jim Little and Justin Hendrix.
Visitation will be held at Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, December 14 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Lynn Forrest (Steve) of Chauncey; husband of 39 years, Horace L. Wilkes, Jr. (Bofus); Stepson, Timothy Wilkes (Paula); grandchildren, TJ Sheffield (Marissa) of Chauncey, Hope Sheffield of Tifton, Isabella Forrest of Chauncey, Brock Forrest of Douglas and step grandson, Matt Forrest of Wisconsin; great granddaughters, Maggie and Ava Sheffield of Chauncey, Alice Forrest of Wisconsin and Karline Forrest of Douglas.
Thelma's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. She spent many years at Oxford. In her role as a homemaker, Thelma created a warm and welcoming home, a haven for family and friends alike.
Thelma's legacy is one of love and the precious gift of family. She will be remembered with fondness and gratitude for the countless ways she enriched our lives.
