Abingdon, VA - Mrs. Thelma Mae Snodgrass beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family on Monday, September 29, 2025. She was 86 years old. Thelma was born in Tazewell County and moved to Washington County early in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” Sheffey Baldwin and Mary Ethel Childress Baldwin; two brothers, Lincoln “Lank” Childress of Abingdon, and Elmer Baldwin of Meadowview.
Survivors include her loving Husband of over 69 years, Garnett G. Snodgrass; one son, Billy “Bill” Snodgrass and wife Diane of Abingdon; one daughter, Dwana Doane and husband, Charles “Chuck” of Saltville; brothers, Homer Baldwin, and wife Peggy, of Bristol, TN, and Ernest Baldwin, and wife Lisa of Cummings Georgia; sisters-in-law, Phyllis “Renee” Kidd, and Sudie Baldwin of Bristol Virginia; blessed with six grandchildren, Bill Snodgrass, Jr. and wife Amy, Darrell Snodgrass and wife Katrina, Jessica Reynolds and husband Earl, Jenna Brennen and husband Sean, Justin Barrett and wife Julia, Robin Miller and Husband Brandon; twelve great grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Bill Snodgrass, Jr., Darrell Snodgrass, Lynn Hall, Earl Reynolds, and Frankie Fulton serving as pallbearers.
