Mickie was born on August 25, 1939, in Lansing Michigan. She was raised in a comfortable home with her parents, Jim and Dorothy Griffus in South Lansing along with her three sisters, Marian, Joyce and Judy.
Mickie met her lifelong companion and husband, Jim and lived the majority of their life together in Dimondale, Michigan raising their three children, Mike, Barb and Doug.
Mickie was known for her warm smile, generous heart and quick wit touching everyone she encountered.
Her greatest joy came from raising her three children, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Mickie was fortunate to have a loving son-in-law, Steve, that she adored. She also had many friends, which included Ruthanne, a very close friend of more than 60 years. Mickies world evolved around her beloved kitty, Dolly for the last 16 years.
Throughout her life, Mickie enjoyed many activities including spending time fishing and boating at the family cottage on Horsehead Lake and soaking up Winter sun on Pine Island in Florida. She enjoyed playing softball in Dimondale, golf, square dancing, snowmobiling, traveling with Jim and the kids on family vacations and many other activities.
As we say our final goodbyes in this life to Thelma "Mickie" Lee Vanderlip, mom, grandma and great grandmother, we will celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless memories she has provided us with. Her spirit will remain with everyone that has had the pleasure of knowing her.
She will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 11, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel, 5035 Holt Rd., Holt, MI with Pastor Tony Pyle officiating. Interment will follow in Windsor Twp. Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. The family is being served by the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel.
