Ida was a committed wife for 77 years to her late husband, Charlie Vanderlip; a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great mother; and a devoted member of Olive Chapel Baptist Church in Apex, NC. She loved cooking for family and friends and had a gift for hospitality.
She is survived by her son, Brad Vanderlip and his wife Sharon, her daughter Wanda Abbott and her husband Andy, and her son-in-law, Jim Townsend. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Laura Feather, Amy DeLoach, Tommy Abbott, Leslie Desmond, Lisa Parnell, and Michele Vanderlip, as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ida was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Gail Townsend.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Olive Chapel Baptist Church, 600 New Hill Olive Chapel Rd, Apex, NC. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary, with burial afterward in the church cemetery.
