Theodore Charles "Ted" Bierbauer, Jr., 83, of Duncansville, PA. and formerly of
Oil City, PA., passed away at his home on August 16, 2024, surrounded by his close family.
Born March 8, 1941 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Ted was the only son of the late Theodore Charles Bierbauer, Sr. and the late Margaret Kaufman Bierbauer.
In 1946, Ted first attended Perry Elementary School. He became a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart School. Mr. Bierbauer was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral Prep in Erie, Pa. He graduated from Gannon College with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, and earned his Master's Degree in Social Welfare from the University of Buffalo, NY in 1965. Due to his graduate internships, Mr. Bierbauer's passion led him to receive his specialty in Mental Health Services.
While in grade school, Mr. Bierbauer participated in little league baseball and was a member of the 1953 Erie City Championship team. While at Cathedral Prep, he took part in track and field as well as cross country. He was a member of two cross country championships, one in 1957 and the other in 1958.
While at Gannon, Mr. Bierbauer received training to teach religious education at the elementary and high school levels. He taught CCD for many years in Erie, PA.,
Oil City, PA., and later in Richmond, Virginia. He was a very involved member of St. Joseph Church while living in
Oil City, PA.
After college, Ted married the former Mary Anne Strawbridge on August 5, 1968 at St. Joseph Church and she preceded him in death on April 19, 1997. He worked as a Clinical Social Worker for Family Services for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Beth Bierbauer, who passed away on September 24, 1988. Ted was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Wiliam Strawbridge, of
Oil City, PA along with his parents and several relatives.
He is survived by one son, Ted Bierbauer, III and his wife Beth of Roanoke Rapids, NC and three daughters, Debra Anne Jackman of North East, PA. and her husband Thaddeus, Kara L. Troyer and her husband Jason "Jay" of Gibsonia PA. and Kelley L. Breene and her husband Daniel "Dan" of Duncansville, PA.
PAPA, as he became to be known, is survived by 11 grandchildren, who always held a special place in his heart. Camden Bierbauer, Kelsey Bierbauer, Gavin Jackman, Max Jackman, Alex Jackman, Becca Breene, Jackson Breene, Matthew Troyer, Riley Troyer, Sammie Breene, and Ellie Breene know that PAPA will be watching and smiling down on them from heaven.
Friends will be received from 2pm -4pm and 6pm – 8pm Tues Aug. 20. in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Church in
Oil City, PA.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in
Oil City, PA.
