Theodore Samuel Brown, 95 of
Wilmington, Delaware, entered eternal rest on September 17, 2025.
He was born on July 10,1930 in
Wilmington, Delaware to the late Helen H. Brown. He was raised by his loving Grandparents, the late Felix and Flossie Brown.
Teddy, as he was affectionately called, attended Wilmington Catholic School and Howard High School.
Teddy enlisted in the US Army in 1950 and was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. He later joined the Army Reserves and served for 6 years.
Teddy was joined in Holy Matrimony, November 18, 1972, to the former Shirley A. Watson. They were happily married for 52 years and 10 months.
Teddy was employed by Diver Chevrolet, Wilmington Auto, International Harvest and retired from the Diamond Oil Company in 1992.
Teddy enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing his saxophone, listening to jazz, building model airplanes and cars, working in his yard and had a large collection of Hess Trucks.
Teddy had a strong faith and truly loved the Lord. He served as a Trustee and a Steward in the Boulden UAME Church, New Castle, Delaware, under the leadership of his Nephew, the Rev. Jeffrey A. Miller, Sr., and the Rev. Sondra L. Hunter. He recently joined the St. Paul UAME Church,
Wilmington, Delaware under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Charles L. Amos.
Teddy was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Teddy was pre-deceased by his two daughters, Dolly Brown, and Theodosia Brown, two sons, Theodore Brown, Jr, and Ronald Smith, one brother, Henry Brown and one Godson, John D. Miller, Sr.
Teddy leaves to mourn his loss, his loving and devoted wife, Shirley A. Brown. Daughters, Deborah Hutt, Elizabeth Johnson, and Beverly Cottman; 13 Grandchildren; Barbara Hutt, Clarence Hutt, Kimwana & Sherrell Johnson, Tasha & William Sereno, Andria Smith, Corey Smith, Kimberly Smith, Robert & Selly Cottman, Bruce & Alicia Cottman, Bryant Cottman and Denise Cottman, Sirwalter Johnson, and Sirvalter Johnson. 36 Great Grandchildren, and 16 Great Great Grandchildren, one Goddaughter, Emmalee Furrowh and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, friends and his St. Paul Wilmington, Church family.
