Theodore J. "Teddy" Calhoun Sr.

Theodore J. Calhoun, 70, Passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home. Teddy was born April 14, 1954, a son of the late Sheridan and Mary (Casey) Calhoun.
Teddy graduated from Harbor Creek High School in 1973 and also attended the Erie County Technical School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Peterson Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in July 1978 and returned home to Erie. Following his military service, Teddy worked as an electrician, a skill he had honed during his time in the Air Force. He dedicated many years the company that became Carlisle Engineered Plastics. A hardworking man, he always prioritized providing for his wife and family. His expertise extended beyond his job, as he remodeled and built an addition onto their home.
Teddy was quiet, yet determined. He loved boating and often took his family out on Lake Erie in the summer, where they fished and enjoyed time together. Summer gatherings for picnics and holiday celebrations brought the whole family together. He was a longtime member of the Girard American Legion Post #494, where he and his wife spent Wednesday nights, gathering with friends, for years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and made an annual trip to Dubois to reconnect with friends at camp.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eileen Teed and Linda Marofsky; brother in law, David Marofsky; and a son in law, Todd Balko.
Teddy will be greatly missed by his family which includes his wife, Jerri Calhoun (Kleist), who he married on October 15, 1977; son, Theodore J Calhoun Jr. "T.J." (Lindsey); daughter, Stephanie Balko; brother, Timothy Calhoun; and grandchildren, Nathan Balko, Julia Balko, Rachel Balko, and Claire Calhoun.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girard American Legion Post #494, 42 Wall Street, Girard, PA 16417.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E., Girard. A Funeral Service will be held there the following day, Thursday, at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be rendered.
