Cadillac - Theodore Wayne Fewless, better known as "Ted" a longtime resident of Cadillac passed away at home with family by his side on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was 82.
Ted was born on November 23, 1942, in Cadillac, Michigan to George "Jack" and Thelma "Sally" (Eddy) Fewless. On June 21, 1969 Ted entered into marriage with the former Agnes Marie Stayer, a union lasting nearly 51 years until her passing in 2020.
Ted earned two master's from Central Michigan University and served as a teacher, coach, and a school administrator for Manistee, Cadillac, Blissfield and Pine River Schools. During his tenure in the school system, he became heavily involved in coaching. While at Cadillac, he was responsible for starting the men's gymnastics team and was the head baseball coach of the Vikings from 1973-1976. He was a founding member of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches association and was a local scout for the Kansas City Royals professional baseball team. In his later years, Ted became a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Sunday mass usher for the Catholic Church. In his spare time, Ted enjoyed going out for coffee and catching up with friends, family, former students and players.
Ted will be remembered for being a humble and kind person while always looking for the best in others. Never judgmental and always understanding, he welcomed you into conversation as if you were family. He remembered everyone's name and could associate a story with those he met. People enjoyed being in his presence because he remembered their best moments.
Ted is survived by his son, Brandon Scott (Mindy) Fewless of Cadillac; his daughter, Melissa Marie (Randy) Rochester of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Ryan Rochester, Megan Rochester and Andrew Fewless; Sister Marsha Armstrong of Cadillac; sister-in-law, Josephine Stayer; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sally; his wife, Agnes; brothers-in-law, Tony Stayer, Jon Stayer, Al Stayer, Joe Stayer, and Edward Stayer; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stayer-Cardinal and Francis Stayer-Davis.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Janowski. Interment will take place alongside his wife at the Sherman Township Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.Hitesman-Holdship.com The family is being served by the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home.
