Theodore C. "Ted" Hamilton, 84, died peacefully on January 5, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ted lived a life marked by service, love, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Born on May 10, 1941, in Marion, Indiana, Ted was the son of the late Donovan E. and Zola V. (Heckard) Hamilton. He graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1959 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. On August 27 of that same year, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably until his discharge on March 1, 1961.
Following his military service, Ted embarked on a long and steady career with UPS, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1994. Retirement did not slow him down; instead, it opened new avenues for him to continue contributing to his community. He joined the Grant County Sheriff's Department where he took on roles in maintenance and as kitchen supervisor for the Detention Center. Later in life, he brought joy to many through his work delivering flowers for Kelly's Florist.
Ted was a faithful and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Marion-the same church where he married the love of his life, Ralpha R. (Clelland) Hamilton, on December 30, 1966. Their union was one of deep affection and mutual respect. Ted loved his bride with all of his heart; their children are forever grateful to have been raised by such devoted parents.
He is survived by his children, Erik J. (Cathy) Hamilton, Robin (Archie Jr.) Davis and Holly Jo Hamilton; sisters, Janet H. Brown, Jill E. Miller and Jane A. (Chris) Miller; grandchildren, Josiah W. Hamilton, Chloe E. Hamilton, Archie Lee Davis III, Jenna (Sam) Cannon and Chenelle Dawn Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Dre'Shawn Cannon, Dez'Marie Cannon, Sammy Cannon, Aubrey Dawn Sirmons and Davion Sirmons; as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends whom Ted held dear throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ralpha R. Hamilton.
Ted had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did from bluegill fishing trips to cheering on the Chicago Cubs or watching college football games with enthusiasm. He found joy in tending to his vegetable garden each season and took great pride in cooking hearty meals for family and friends-always ensuring everyone left with full bellies and warm hearts.
Those who knew Ted remember him as a warm-hearted gentleman with a great sense of humor. A selfless provider who gave generously of himself without ever seeking recognition. His sincerity touched many lives, and his legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church 1031 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Rev. Michael Block officiating. The visitation will be held on January 15, 2026, from 9:30am-until 11am in the narthex of the church. Burial will follow at 1pm in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana. I met Ted at the DHome when the Grant County Sheriff´s Chaplaincy office was in that same building. What a sweet man! He would stop in to see if I would like to try a new "creation" from the kitchen.

Ted Hamilton was a lifelong friend to my brother David, an adopted son to my mother, and a forever friend of the family. His visits to our home always brought laughter and good will and hugs all around. I send my deepest condolences to all his family on the loss of an irreplaceable person.
