Theodore Helpling Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home on Nov. 28, 2024.
Theodore John Helpling III, a beloved husband, father, nephew, uncle and friend, passed away on November 24, 2024, at the age of 43. Born on December 17, 1980, Theodore was known for his kindness, loyalty, generosity, and free spirit, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.
Theodore's heart was a sanctuary for his family. Theodore was the cherished husband of Michelle McKinney-Helpling, with whom he shared a life of 23 years filled with love and laughter. He was a proud father of his sons, Micheal Jay Asselstine and Michael James Helpling, and a devoted grandfather to Anakin Helpling and Sage Goodwill. His family was his greatest treasure, and he held each moment with them as a precious gem.
A free spirit with unwavering loyalty, Theodore was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and a proud Hufflepuff. His love for music, games, and science fiction was a melody that resonated with all who knew him, drawing people together in shared passions. His vibrant personality and zest for life left an indelible mark on every soul he encountered.
The cherished son of Karen Gray and the late Theodore John Helpling II, Theodore was a loving brother to Tina Helpling, Rob Pettibone, Shannon Warner, and Jon Helpling. His stepfather, Jerry Gray, remembers him fondly, as do all who were touched by his kindness. Though preceded in death by his siblings Jerry Gray Jr. and Heather Pollard, Theodore's legacy of love and laughter continues to illuminate the hearts of those who knew him.
Theodore John Helpling III will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as his spirit continues in the cherished memories of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Theodore's name, celebrating his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
There will be an open memorial visitation on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home, 5342 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.
