Theodore Lee, Sr. was born on May 8, 1945, in Helena, Arkansas, the sixth child of eleven born to Elbert, Sr. and Bernice Lee. He grew up in Helena and attended Eliza Miller High School, graduating in 1965. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age at Long Lake Missionary Baptist Church.
After graduation from high school, Theodore joined the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam under the command of Captain Colin Powell in the 1st Infantry Division, also known as the "Big Red One." Theodore's exceptional service earned him two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge for Marksmanship.
Theodore was honorably discharged in 1967 and went on to pursue an associate degree in lithography from Phillips County Community College in Helena. He later worked at 3M in Little Rock, Arkansas until his retirement, after which he returned to Helena. On December 17, 1983, Theodore married Emma Richardson, and they shared a blessed union for 41 years. Together, they were blessed with two children, Kevin Theodore and Jacqueline Lee.
Theodore Lee, Sr. peacefully passed away on July 30, 2024, at 7:07 pm. In addition to his parents, Theodore was preceded in death by his sister, Earnestine (Sonny) White and his brothers, George, Elbert, Jr., and Samuel Lee.
Theodore is lovingly remembered by his wife, Emma; his sons, Theodore, Jr. of West Helena, AR; Terry Lee of Bryant, AR; B. Ray Lee of Mariette, GA; Kevin Theodore Lee (Jacqueline) of Bryant, AR; James Lee of Killeen, TX; Braylon Everette of Little Rock, AR and Dasavion Calvin of Little Rock, AR; his daughters, Madeline Lee Coleman of Little Rock, AR; Cheryl Lee of West Helena, AR; Sharon Lee of West Helena, AR; Bonnie Kay Lee of Hot Springs, AR; Jacqueline Lee of Jonesboro, AR; Tasha Scott (LaMont) of Little Rock, AR and Robyn Moss of Little Rock, AR; his sisters, Pearlean Rhodes of Momence, IL; Florida Jones of Tolleson, AZ; Deloris Kirkwood of West Helena, AR; Ethel Orr (Chuck) of St. Louis, MO; Margaret Cosby of St. Louis, MO and Carrie Ann Lee of Richmond, VA. Theodore's extended family Includes Marie Lee, the wife of George Lee; Perrise Lee, the wife of Elbert Lee; 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
