Theodore “Ted” Moss, 86, of Nicholasville passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at home. Ted was the loving husband of Betsy Hisel Moss for 69 years, and the two had been sweethearts since their school days. Ted was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Nicholasville.
Born October 31st, 1937 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Charles T and Mary “P-nut” Brandstetter Moss, Ted spent his entire life in Central Kentucky. He retired from Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company in 1995, after a successful career in computer systems spanning 25 years. An avid croquet player and bicyclist, Ted completed the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) three times in his life, cycled all over Europe, and won several croquet tournaments. He was a former member of the Bluegrass Wheelmen and enjoyed traveling, photography, and the company of his many good friends.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Trish Moss of Lexington; his son, Tim Moss (Robin) of Nicholasville; his beloved grandchildren, the darlings, Sarah Slusher (Brandon), Christopher Moss (Heather), and Aaron Moss (Elli); his treasured great-grandchildren Emma and Abe Slusher, Dahlia, Alice, and Violet Moss. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Charles Brandstetter Moss. He will also be greatly missed by Mary Ferguson, who cared so tenderly for him in his last months of life, and Molly, a special canine companion.
Visitation will be Sunday October 20th at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville from 3:00-6:00 PM and Monday October 21st from 10:00-11:00 AM. The funeral will begin at 11:00 AM and will be followed by a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville.
