Theodore M. Scarinzi, formerly of Conklin, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 90, at the NYS Veterans Home at Oxford. Known for his gentle spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family, he was cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ted grew up in
Binghamton, New York, where he spent his early years playing football and building the character that would later define his life. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he built a distinguished career and meritoriously served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His service was a source of pride and honor throughout his life.
Following his time in the Marines, he continued his commitment to public service by working for the United States Postal Service as a mailman where he worked for twenty years until his retirement.
In what he often described as one of the best decisions of his life, he married Mary Ann, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 54 years. Together, they raised two daughters, Theresa and Margaret, whom he loved and supported unconditionally. Later, he found immense joy in his role as a proud grandfather to Olivia and Max.
Retirement brought new adventures-lunches with his beloved "Italian Lunch Bunch," friendly rounds of golf, and monkeying around with the computer, where he created humorous, heartfelt cards, magazine covers, and images that delighted his family. He had a passion for cooking and savoring his own creations, a curiosity for the latest gadgets, and he and Mom spent countless hours together taking in the view of their beautiful backyard, a place he took great pride in and genuinely enjoyed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Theresa (Bill), Margaret; grandchildren, Olivia, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Margaret Scarinzi; his sister, Erma; his nephew, Dino; and his beloved bulldog, Sarge.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the entire team at NYS Veterans Home in Oxford for their loving and nurturing care and support of Ted.
A celebration of his life will be held on July 1, 2025 at 11:00 at Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango Street,
Binghamton, NY 13901, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the incredible life he lived. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service. He will be buried in Calvary Cemetery.
