Theodore Carlton Thomas, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in Rochester, New York. Born on October 1, 1952, in Rochester to the late Samuel and Addie Mae Thomas, he was the youngest of four boys and grew up surrounded by family, faith, and community.
Theodore attended Number 9 School as a child and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. In 1971, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving until 1973. Stationed in Korea, he also bravely fought in the Vietnam War. His service reflected his courage, loyalty, and deep love for his country.
Affectionately known as "Yogi," Theodore dedicated his post-military years to hard work and service. He was employed with the Rochester Housing Authority from 1975 to 1998, and later with the VA Hospital, where he worked in janitorial services until his retirement in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Addie Mae Thomas, and his brother, Donald Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Fred A. Thomas (Soundra Cooper) and Arnold Thomas (Deborah); his sister-in-law, Marta Bermudez-Thomas; his daughter, Contrina Frazier; his son, Albert Brown; his special friend, Carolyn Parson; his grandchildren, Michael, Jamichael, Alyssa, Ashlee, Albert, and Carson; nephews Ahmed and Jamil; nieces Cassandra and Maya; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
Theodore's life was marked by service, resilience, and devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
