Barbara passed peacefully at Hildebrandt Hospice Center after living a long and full life. She is survived by her 4 children; Stephen T MacIntyre (and Monique), Karen A MacIntyre, Lynda M MacIntyre (and Jack) and Robin A Mazejka, her 9 grandchildren; Christina Redondo, Adam MacIntyre, Emma MacIntyre Bertolone, Molly MacIntyre, Joseph Allen, Zachary Mazejka, Ian Hunt, Samantha Allen, Owen Hunt and 7 great grandchildren Tyler, Sadie, Maxwell, Emery, Gwendolyn, Ellie and Lily. She is predeceased by her husband Robert T MacIntyre and her brother Gerard Polcari.

Bob and Barb were a loving couple dedicated to each other and their family often used the phrase "Family is Forever". Both were born in Boston, MA and met while in college. They moved their wedding date up after Barbara's graduation in 1953 because they were so eager to start their life together. Because they were both from Boston, it was expected that they would become avid Red Sox fans. Barbara went to her first game when she was about 6 when a neighbor teenage girl took her on the subway to a game. In later years, when Barb watched evening games with her husband Bob, he would oftentimes go to bed early. In that situation Barbara would keep game notes for him and leave them for him to read when he woke up. Love for one another and for the Sox!

Born into a strong Italian family to Pasquale and Marie Polcari she was proud of the way her father understood the importance of education. He not only not only married an educated woman but resisted his family's pressure about not sending his daughter to college. She proudly graduated from Emmanuel College with a Bachelor of Science and worked in the Harvard science labs before starting a family. Bob and Barb moved to Rochester NY in 1957 while she was pregnant with their 3rd child and then to Henrietta NY in 1960 where they bought their first and only home to raise their family.

Once their four children were in school Barb starting teaching 5th grade at Good Shepherd in Henrietta. Barb went back into scientific research in 1965 at Eastman Dental Center (University of Rochester) where she worked on developing mouth rinses and tooth sealant (Novaseal) and wrote a paper on the psychological effect of dental instrument placement on patients. Unfortunately, the research environment at that time was not supportive of women and she eventually went back to teaching.

Barb loved sailing with Bob and developed her own proficiency by sailing in many ladies' skippers' races (and winning a few too). Barbara always loved art and explored it later in life. She won many awards for her watercolors and painting on silk and numerous family and friends cherish her gifts. She also loved to knit blankets for her grandchildren and furthered her skills by knitting mittens and hats for military families and domestic violence victims. She also spent many hours perfecting her Italian cooking and many family and friends would contend that her best skills were enjoyed with her at the dinner table.

She was always a "prayer warrior" and when she couldn't help in other ways as she got older, she became even more diligent. Prayer is the best gift you can give someone! One great way you can remember her is by saying a prayer while eating a piece of dark chocolate and/or coffee ice cream that she enjoyed every day.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory to either of the following would be greatly appreciated and wisely used:
