On August 15, 2025, peacefully at home at the age of 94.

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, Joyce (Wisbaum) graduated from Cornell University in just three years, where she met her beloved husband, Alan J. Underberg. A few years later, they returned to his hometown of Rochester, where Joyce lived for the next seven decades. In addition to raising four children, Joyce had a fulfilling professional career and served her community in a variety of ways. After earning her Master of Public Administration in the early 1980s, Joyce served as Director of Government Affairs at the Schlegel Corporation. She served on the boards of the United Way, the League of Women Voters, the Town of Brighton Conservation Board, WXXI, the Convalescent Hospital for Children, the Chatterbox Club, the Center for Environmental Information, and the Cornell University Council. In recognition of their many contributions, she and Alan were awarded the University of Rochester Associates Medal for Service in 1981.

An avid skier and golfer, Joyce often said some of her best days were spent on the slopes or the course. She was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 20 years and served as President of the Women's Rochester District Golf Association. Her zest for life extended to many other pursuits-she was an accomplished tennis player, a keen sailor, and a bridge enthusiast; a devoted reader and world traveler; a master of crossword puzzles; a savvy student of the stock market; and a generous source of advice and support to her family and friends both in Western New York and across the country.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Alan; her partner, Stanley Rodwin; and her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Janet Wisbaum. She is survived by her son, Mark (Diane Englander); daughters Amy Allen (Michael Brunetti), Lisa Hamburg (Phil Phistry), and Kathryn Zimmerman (Eric); grandchildren Andrew (Rachel Bring), James, Michael Allen (Kelsey), Nicholas Allen (Sarah Allen), Jason Hamburg (Melissa), Kevin Hamburg, Logan Hamburg, Ellie Zimmerman, and Abigail Zimmerman; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by cherished members of the Wisbaum and Rodwin families and several treasured companions.

Interment will be private. A memorial service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. at The Country Club of Rochester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to WXXI Public Broadcasting in Rochester.
