Obituary of Theodore "Teddy" Triplett Sr.
Teddy Ray Triplett Sr., 86, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, in Manvel, Texas. He was born September 16, 1937, in Houston, Texas, and was raised in Pearland and Alvin. Teddy was the 11th of 15 children, and the last surviving child of Daniel and Olinda Rauh Triplett. When he was in 3rd grade, Teddy moved with his family from Pearland to Alvin. He spent weekends helping his older siblings with their work, one being at his brother Carl's dairy. He grew up farming from an early age. His family had a large truck patch of vegetables and many chickens and rabbits. When he was in high school, Teddy had to drive to the farmer's market in Houston with a truck load of vegetables, such as okra, mustard greens, turnips, and beets, among others, to sell them all night and then drive home and go to school the next day. When he was 19, Teddy met Georganna Hastings at a sock hop and they were married a year later. Together they raised five children, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Teddy was an extremely hard worker and often worked multiple jobs to support his family. He attended the fire training school at Texas A&M and became a volunteer fireman. Teddy retired from the Brazoria County drainage district after 32 years of service. During his retirement, Teddy's uniform of choice was either a set of coveralls or an aggie shirt.
Later in life, Teddy cherished becoming a grandpa and great grandpa. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed feeding his catfish at his farm and taking his grandkids and great grandkids out on his RTV to feed and fish a little. Teddy was known as "The Little Vegetable Man" for many years, selling produce in LaGrange, often with his grandkids there to help him. Customers would line up and down the street on days that he was there to sell. Teddy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him; however his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace.
Teddy is survived by his loving wife, Georganna Triplett; sons Ted Triplett Jr. and wife, Cherie, George Triplett and wife, Tammy, Brian Triplett and wife, Tracy; daughters Sharon Perry and husband, James, Sheryl Greiner and husband, Kevin; grandchildren Buddy Triplett and wife, Sarah, Charlie Triplett and wife, Margaret, Mara Triplett, Nolan Triplett, Zane Triplett, Cole Triplett, Lauren Perry and husband, Michael Pruett, Matt Perry, Jonathan Greiner and wife, Katrina, Christopher Greiner, Rebecca Greiner; great grandchildren Jackson Greiner and Annabelle Greiner, C.J. Triplett and Anya Triplett, and a host of many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Helping Hands Pearland, where they called him the Okra Man.
