On April 10, 2024, Theresa “Treet” Payea Perry Devino of Georgia, Vermont peacefully passed away at home following a recent illness.
Treet was our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many. Treet was born on March 29, 1927, in Essex Junction, VT to her beloved parents, Clara (Hammond) and Harry Payea.
Treet graduated from Essex High School in 1944. She married Bob Perry in 1949, and their family grew to include three children. In 1970, her husband founded Bob Perry Trucking. Following the unexpected passing of Bob in 1971, Treet and her sons, Bob and Bill, co-owned Bob Perry Trucking.
In 1974, Treet married Miles “Bill” Devino. After the sale of the business and their retirement in 1987, Treet enjoyed many years traveling back and forth from her home in Vermont to her home in Florida. She deeply loved her whole family, and whether she was in Vermont or Florida, Treet welcomed and made comfortable family and friends with open arms.
Treet was a longtime member of VABVI (Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired), where she found purpose in supporting others facing similar challenges. She had a strong love for her country. An avid gardener, she found solace and beauty in nurturing her flowers. Treet’s independence, wisdom, and the ability to make the best of situations with compassion and her selfless acts of kindness will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Treet leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever resonate with those fortunate enough to have known her. She is survived by her daughter Sue Robinson and husband Roland; son Bill Perry and wife Carol; grandchildren Jake Perry, Brian Perry and his wife Julie, Bill Perry and his wife Alyson, Julie Furniss and her husband Rich, Jim Ouellette and his wife Micah, Adam Robinson, Seth Robinson; step-grandchildren Shelley, James, Lori, and Eddie; great-grandchildren Brooke, Sophia, Noah, Desmond, Madelyn, Dean, Samuel, Charlotte, Dalton, Cole and Addison; brother Judd Payea and wife Alice; sister Marie Chicoine; along with many other cherished relatives and friends.
