On June 12th, the unique person that was Theresa Marut-Orenchuk went home to be with her parents, grand-parents and brother. She never truly realized what a footprint she had in the world, and what a void she is leaving behind.
Theresa was born on November 25, 1949 in Steubenville, Ohio, to parents Helen and Tony Marut. She had five wonderful siblings, Jocelyn (Gale), Fr. Tom Marut, Rita (Ciancetta), Rosemary (Ivkovich), and John (deceased).
In 1991 she married Jim Orenchuk and soon the entire Orenchuk family adopted her as our own. She was step-parent to Matthew and Christopher, and was also blessed to have two wonderful daughters-in-law and five amazing grandchildren who knew her as “Babcia.”
As a 30-year member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna, Ohio, Theresa’s faith was the center of her life. She spent much of the last 40 years in banking and risk management in Columbus. Theresa volunteered for many organizations and was never happier than when cooking and baking, especially for others.
My sweet Baboo is gone and the world is a poorer place with her absence.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio would be greatly appreciated.
A funeral mass will be held at St Matthew's on Friday, June 20, at 11am.
