Therese Beaty, age 85, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away on August 30, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Therese was born on June 6, 1940, in Seneca, Kansas, and was one of nine children born to George and Aurelia Fangman. Therese attended and graduated from high school in St. Benedict, Kansas, and graduated from St. Margaret School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas. While she was a student and working at St. Margaret's Hospital, she had a patient who was a young man by the name of Malcolm "Tex" Beaty. After his release from the hospital, their courtship continued, and the couple was married on October 6, 1962, in St. Benedict, Kansas. Therese continued her nursing career until 1980. She was a master seamstress and was famous for her baking skills, often baking for children in orphanages. Therese was always making cookies for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm "Tex", her parents George and Aurelia Fangman, her brothers Wilford, Leo, Mark, Tom, Richard, and her sister Grace Kohake.
Survivors include her three children: Terry Beaty of Kansas City, Kansas, Mike (Laura) Beaty of Springfield, Missouri, and Connie (Mike) Stahl of Basehor, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Wilbert Fangman of Newton, Kansas, and Eugene Fangman of Seneca, Kansas
