Therese El Kadi, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2024, in Boston, MA. Born in Sarba, Lebanon, on November 25, 1937, Therese's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.
Therese's journey began in the heart of Lebanon, where she embraced life with passion and dedication. She graduated from Sainte Famille - Jounieh, a place that held a special place in her heart, as it was not only the foundation of her education but also where she met the love of her life, Youhanna El Akiki. The couple married in 1977, and their union was filled with love and mutual respect until Youhanna's untimely passing in 1991.
A devoted mother and loving "Tati," Therese's family was the center of her universe. Her daughter, Ghania El Akiki, and son-in-law, Jamil Azzi of Chestnut Hill, were her pride and joy, along with her cherished grandchildren, Nai, Reem, and Aya. Although Therese was predeceased by her seven siblings, she leaves behind a legacy of love, remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, both in the United States and in Lebanon.
Therese's professional life was as rewarding as her personal one. After graduating, she continued her connection with Sainte Famille Francaise - Jounieh, where she taught for 45 years. In 2004, she made the journey to the United States, where she found joy and fulfillment in helping raise her grandchildren, passing on her values and traditions.
Known affectionately as "the great Baker," Therese's hands crafted the most delicious treats, with her famous dessert "alkazar," a pastry, becoming a staple at family gatherings and holidays. Her culinary skills were only matched by her love for hosting, as she opened her home and heart to friends and family, making every occasion a cherished memory.
Travel was another of Therese's passions. She relished the opportunity to explore new places, from the beaches of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii, Canada, Vegas, New York, and Greece. Her love for the water was evident, as she enjoyed going out on boats and spending time at the beach. Therese's "TANTINA" ZEZZA" spirited nature shone brightly at social events, where she was always the life of the party, especially during the holiday get-togethers.
Therese's character was the epitome of loving and kind, with a spirited soul that never failed to inspire and uplift those around her. Her absence will be profoundly felt, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Therese El Kadi, we take comfort in the knowledge that her legacy of love, family, and joyous spirit will echo through the generations. Her memory will be treasured, her stories retold, and her love felt forevermore.
