Sister Therese Forest, (Eva-Marie) died at d'Youville Senior Care Center on Sunday, August 18 at the age of 96, having been professed as a Sister of Charity of Ottawa for 67 years.
Sr. Therese was born in Lowell. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eva (Carpentier) Forest. She received her early education in Lowell, at St. Joseph School and St. Joseph High School. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education from Rivier College, in Nashua, NH and a Master's degree in Business Education from Boston University.
She taught on the elementary level in Lowell and Haverhill, then on the secondary level as a business teacher, then principal at St. Joseph High School in Lowell. She also worked in the development department at the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lowell, and Marguerite's Place in Nashua, NH. Before her retirement, she served as school secretary at St. Vincent Academy in Newark, NJ.
She was pre-deceased by her siblings and their spouses: Ernest (Lucille) Forest, Andre Forest, Gabrielle (Hervé) Marquis, Rita Forest, Estelle (Raymond) Gendreau, Pauline (Albert) Tousignant, (her twin) and Doris (Normand) Belley. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Therese (Marquis) Forest (widow of Andre) and several nieces and nephews.
Sr. Therese will be waked at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, from 4:00 – 8:00. Her Funeral will be celebrated on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 in the chapel of d'Youville Life and Wellness Community. Participants are invited to enter the chapel through the side door rather than the main entrance of the nursing home. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to d'Youville Foundation, d'Youville Life and Wellness Community, 981 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854-1913.
