Therese Marie Smith, age 69, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Therese was born in Ashland, Kentucky, to Paul Weis and Jennie (Flynn) Weis.
Therese was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She is survived by her beloved husband, Doug Smith; two cherished daughters, Bekkah Schmidt and Rachel Eldridge; and five treasured grandchildren — Aiden Eldridge, Evan Schmidt, Leah Schmidt, Flynn Eldridge, and Jacob Schmidt. She is also survived by her siblings, Marcia (Mike) Zachem of Ashland, KY, Joe (Rita) Weis of Simpsonville, KY, and Kathy Dawson of Ashland, KY, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
Therese’s greatest joy was her family, who filled her life with love and purpose. She had a gift for making those around her feel special and deeply cared for. Time with her grandchildren was her happiest place — whether laughing over little things, offering words of wisdom, or simply being present, she treasured every moment with them.
Away from family time, Therese and Doug found happiness in their travels to Gatlinburg and in the peaceful rhythm of “Sunday drives.” Therese had a remarkable eye for beauty, always with camera in hand, ready to preserve the small, meaningful moments that spoke to her heart.
