“Family means no one is left behind or forgotten” - David Ogden Stiers

Thom Van Pham passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2025 at the age of 89 at a family home in Tega Cay, South Carolina.

Thom was born in Tan Buu, a village just outside Saigon, Vietnam on February 1, 1935. He married his wife, Hue Hoa on December 16th, 1959, raising their family in Saigon through its fall until 1976 when they escaped by boat and eventually taking refuge in Paris. Thom ensured all of his loved ones were taken care of and were safe. Thom immigrated to the United States with his family to Moline, IL in 1978, where he was a long time resident. He was an entrepreneur, operating an agricultural distribution business, as well as Le Mekong restaurant in Moline, where he was always a warm and welcoming host, befriending anyone that walked in the door, and happy to share milestones and celebrations with guests, year after year, treating them as family.

Thom loved many things, including spending time surrounded by books, a nice hat, a delicious meal accompanied by hot sauce and ending with a bowl of ice cream, and a pocket- full of Werther’s, but none of them as much as family. He always put family first and acted as the provider, stabilizer, and patriarch from an early age and will be missed dearly by all.

Thom is survived by his loving spouse of 65 years, Hue Hoa Pham and his sister, Chinh (Xuan) Nguyen. He is also survived by his children, Rosalynn (Tinh) Hoang, Anthony (Christie) Pham, Tien (Sonny) Pham, grandchildren, Alex Hoang, Gabrielle (Mark) Adams, Philip Pham, and many nieces and nephews.

In passing, Thom follows his parents Trong Pham and Nuong Pham, and sisters, Vong Pham, Tuong Pham, Ngo Pham, Xiem Pham.

Memorial services and visitation will be held starting 1pm on Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at Palmetto Funeral Home located at 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
