Thomas A. Conner Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2024.
Thomas A. Conner Sr. Thomas A. Conner Sr. of Augusta Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2024. He was welcomed in to the presence of his savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 74.

Tom was born in Illinois, to Winfield and Doris (Hawes) Conner on August 2, 1949.

He married the love of his life and best friend, Linda L. (Hakey), and would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 7th.

In 1984, the couple moved to rural Wisconsin to raise their family and fulfill Tom's dream to be a farmer. Tom raised 6 children, countless livestock and the best vegetables around. He loved to fish, hunt and garden. No one can grow peppers like he could! Tom had a servants heart and most of what he grew, he gave away. He taught his children it was more blessed to give than to receive.

After retiring from farming, Tom and Linda moved to the town of Augusta where he continued his gardening hobby to fill his backyard so he could fill others.

Tom became a full time caregiver to his wife after she took ill in 2020 and truly fulfilled his vow "in sickness and in health, until death do us part". He was a living example of what it meant to be a loving husband, present father and servant of God. Tom was humble, hard working, and dependable. He was stubborn, funny and smarter than he gave himself credit for. He was a history buff, John Wayne fan and lover of cherry pie!

Tom is incredibly missed by his family but there is no doubt they will see him again in heaven.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughters Theresa (Curt) Capsel, Melissa (Michael) Kampka; sons Thomas Jr. (Melissa) Conner, William Conner, Jeffrey (Dawn) Conner, and son in law Mitchell Arnold; 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his daughter- Meranda (Mitchell) Arnold.

Private services will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Augusta Rescue, Mayo Ambulance, Osseo Hospital, Mayo One, and Luther Hospital for their quick response and efforts.

True to his giving nature, Thomas wanted to be an organ and tissue donor. Even in death, he will go on to help 50 people by tissue and cornea donation.

Seeing him in the garden and picking green beans and taking them to the kitchen I was really young and learning how to talk.

I knew Tom as a true brother in Christ born again into the family of God. I shared birthdays with his mother and sisters and even some Christmases with all of them. I always felt strongly, God's love in his heart when together with him and his wife. I remember how he loved to listen to and share testimonies of the things God had done in his life and others lives. Tom was part of and a member of a family that sort of took me under wing and loved me like their own when I was first saved. Tom and his wife Linda, his mother and sisters showed me what true Christian love in a natural family was all about. Tom's family stuck together and were always there for one another. Yes. Tom was a giver as unto the Lord. A cheerful giver. Not wanting or expecting anything in return. And he served God from his heart behind the scenes, noticed by God alone, and giving Him all the glory... taking none himself. He was not built up in pride. He was a humble man .
So I suppose the most important and best thing I have to say about him is what i hear God saying about him when I pray for all loved ones and friends he left behind , and that is this taken from the book of Matthew chapter 25 verse 23
His Lord said unto him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
