Thomas Anderson

Thomas J. "Tom" Anderson, age 73, of Hoffman, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, surrounded by family.

Tom was born in Centralia on May 15, 1952, the son of the late Donald and Harriet "Peggy" (Hammond) Anderson. He married Vickie Allen, the love of his life, on June 12, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.

Tom was a lifelong and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served in many roles through the years, both at the church and at Trinity Lutheran School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves and was active in his community as a member of the Board of Directors at Farmers State Bank of Hoffman. Tom worked alongside his father in the family business, Don Anderson Co., and later continued the tradition with his sons. He truly enjoyed his work and valued the friendships and connections he built over more than 60 years serving towns and municipalities throughout southern Illinois. Above all, Tom cherished time with his family-school and sporting events, family vacations, Boy Scouts, and family time were always a priority. His family was at the heart of everything he did.

Tom is survived by his wife, Vickie Anderson of Hoffman; his sons, Thomas Allen Anderson (Jody) of Highland and Ethan Thomas Sven Anderson (Chelsea) of Hoffman; his grandchildren, Rylee Schiermeier, Kinsey Schiermeier, Gillian Anderson, Wyatt Anderson, Jase Schiermeier, and Ella Anderson, and he was looking forward to the arrival of another grandchild, in March. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Wilson (Mark), of Fairfax Station, VA, and Jane Wernsman (Steve), of Edwardsville; his mother-in-law, Betty Allen, of Mascoutah; his in-laws, Cindy Newmann (Jim), of Highland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Peggy Anderson; his father-in-law, Dallas Allen, Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Dallas Allen, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8700 Huey Road, Hoffman, IL 62250. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
