Thomas Arvizo, age 60, went home to be with the Lord on April 16th, 2025. He was born on January 13th, 1965, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Cruz Arvizo and Maria Nieves Luna.
He was a proud graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, class of 1983.
He worked for Market Basket for 27 years, beginning when he was in high school. He worked his way up from a merchandiser to a produce manager. He met his wife, Christina, while working at the Mercado de Familia store in Beaumont.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes and was so competitive that he didn’t even take pity on Christina or let her win. His passion for horseshoes led him to win a trophy at one of the annual Market Basket family picnics.
He loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and he was sure to watch every Dallas Cowboy game. Win or lose, he never abandoned his favorite team.
He was also an avid supporter of the Port Neches Groves Indians. He was very excited when his Indians made the playoffs and went on to win state in 2023. “SCALP ‘EM INDIANS!” He always enjoyed listening to a variety of music as long as it was LOUD. Most of all, he cherished spending any and every moment with his family. It was not uncommon to find him playing basketball or horseshoes in the back yard with his grandchildren.
Thomas was a generous soul who lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Christina Lindsey and his children. His daughters; Desiree Arvizo and Shelby Arvizo of Mauriceville, Tx., his stepchildren; Charles M. Salim and wife Nathali of Austin,Tx, Lance D. Lindsey of Beaumont,Tx., Levi Lindsey of Beaumont,Tx., and Angelica Lindsey and husband Pedro Munive of Louisiana.
