Tom Ashbridge hired me twice. The first time was in 1978 when no other brokerage firm was interested and the second time was on my return from First Boston in 1981 after a 6 week detour that I made in error. When I returned from First Boston he insisted on walking me around the entire Philadelphia office to reintroduce me to everyone. Tom was the epitome of a gentleman - a throwback to another time when World War II minted heroic pilots and customer's men were admired. He was charming, dignified and fair and the fact that such a man would give me a chance, made me relish the opportunity that much more.
