Thomas Keith Austin, born on October 12, 1949, in
Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 11, 2025, in
High Point, North Carolina, at the age of 76.
Thomas was the eldest of six children and a guiding light for his siblings. From an early age, he was admired for his cool, confident demeanor and steady presence. His natural charisma and kindness made him a beloved figure among family and friends. A gifted athlete, Thomas excelled in wrestling and baseball, earning accolades for his talent, dedication, and sportsmanship. He played semi-pro baseball for the Melbourne Braves. His accomplishments on the field led him to the University of Florida, where he graduated and became a lifelong fan of the Gators.
After completing his education, Thomas dedicated his career to helping others at Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital in Delray Beach, Florida. His work was marked by compassion and a commitment to improving the lives of those in his care.
Beyond his professional life, Thomas was an avid runner and a man of many interests. He enjoyed reading and was known for his philosophical nature. He had a passion for movies and a keen interest in astrology, even starting a business related to the field. A cradle Roman Catholic, Thomas's faith was an important part of his life.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Hampton Lambert Austin and Mary Catherine Dandelet Austin; his brother, Michael Austin, and sister, Becky Intravaia. He is survived by his son, Christopher Austin; siblings Cindy Massari and her husband, Ron; Philip Austin and his wife, Kelly; Kathleen Lawrence and her husband, Terry; as well as several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date to honor Thomas's life and legacy. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
Thomas Keith Austin will be remembered for his leadership, warmth, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
