Thomas Edward Baumgart, a loving grandfather to 34 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, was born on April 6, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of Evansville, Indiana. He passed away on August 7, 2025, following a brief illness.

Tom was a proud 1963 graduate of Rex Mundi High School. A lifelong farmer, Tom also served his community in many ways: as a volunteer fireman for McCutchanville Fire Department for 50 years, a member of the Indiana Army Reserves, and through a 33 year career as a security officer and firefighter at the Evansville Regional Airport.

A man of deep faith, Tom was a 66 year parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church until its closure in 2019. While at St. Theresa, Tom was a member of the men's club, parish council, repair crew, and volunteered at the summer social. In 2005, Tom was recognized as the Brute Award recipient for his faithful commitment to the Catholic church. Tom later became a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Daylight, Indiana where he was involved in the men's club.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kathleen Scheller, and his first wife, Linda Baumgart. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Baumgart.

Tom leaves behind a large and loving blended family, including his children: Mark (Danica) Baumgart - 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, John (Amber) Baumgart - 5 grandsons, 1 great-grandson, 1 great-granddaughter, Robert (Carol) Exline - 2 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters, Amy (Bill) Owens - 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson, Donna (Eric) Walker - 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren, Stephen (Christine) Exline - 2 granddaughters, Karen (Mike) Scheller, Kenneth Scheller - 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter, 2 great-granddaughters, and Laurie (Nick) Bender - 1 grandson, 2 granddaughters.

Tom is also survived by his brother, Kenneth (Janella) Baumgart, and his sister, Martha (Phillip) Graul, along with many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by one niece.

Tom's legacy is carried on by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to faith and family will be dearly missed.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Daylight, 5301 Daylight Dr., Evansville, IN 47725 with Father Chris Forler celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery.

Friends may also visit from 9:00 am until mass time at St. John the Evangelist Daylight on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711; or Habitat for Humanity, 560 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711.

We were neighbors thru our HS years and used to throw bales for my Uncle with Herb Effinger driving the tractor. Tom and I used to throw and stack bean hay, which nobody does anymore. The last time we saw each other was at a Memorial Service for my Dad, who had been the Assistant Chief when Tom first joined the VFD. We had a great time reminiscing about our unique times and many friends...he was a good ole' boy!
