Thomas J. Bergschneider
Franklin - Thomas J. Bergschneider, 87, of Frankin passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born February 25, 1938 the son of Leo and Sarah Dodsworth Bergschneider. He married Helen Wallbaum on June 18, 1960 at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Alexander and she survives.
He is also survived by his children, Debbie (Bill) Sadler of Franklin, Brad (Lori) Bergschneider of Franklin, Angie (Darren) Barre of Luling, LA, Steve (Dee) Bergschneider of Holly Springs, NC and Sara (Brian) Simmons of Athens; 10 grandchildren, Kirstin (Brad) Gebhardt, Chase (Cassie) Bergschneider, Devin (Lindsay) Bergschneider, Jagger (Emily) Bergschneider, Paige Barre, Lucy Barre, Ellen (Justin) Collopy, Clara Bergschneider, Kilyn Simmons and Keston Simmons; nine great-grandchildren, Blaine, Poppie, Cade, Cason, Greenley, Isla, Walker, Beckham and Meadow; brothers, Ed (deceased wife, Bernice) Bergschneider, Bob (Marilyn) Bergschneider, and Dick (Lea) Bergschneider; sisters, Sister Rachel Bergschneider, Mary (Joe) Somerset, and JoAnn (Jay) Gardner. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chuck Bergschneider; one granddaughter, Cayla; one great-granddaughter, Sloan; and two brothers, Jack (deceased wife, Doris) Bergschneider and William (surviving wife, Rebecca) Bergschneider.
Tom was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Franklin area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin. He had served on the Franklin School Board and the Franklin Bank Board. He was a volunteer fireman in Franklin for many years. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested the Alzheimer or Dementia charities, Franklin Fire Department, or the charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.

Many fond memories of Tom & Helen, Ralph & Aggie, and Bob & Jane treating us kids to summer vacation at Lake Shelbyville. Tom was always very generous with his time and talents and I will miss most his sense of humor. Condolences to Helen and Family.
