Thomas Howard Blackard

Thomas Howard Blackard, "Tom", age 89, died peacefully on March 9th, 2025 after a period of declining health. He was born in Person County and was a graduate of Person County High School. He worked 30+ years with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. He is survived by his grandsons Joey Blackard (and wife Ashley) and George Blackard (and wife Gigi), his beloved great grandchildren Landon, Willow, Annily, Mackenzie and Holden; his brothers, Harold Blackard (and wife Judy) and Butch Blackard (and wife Laura). He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Billie Howard Tuggle Blackard, daughter Paula Long, son, Thomas Howard Blackard Jr. and siblings George Lesley Blackard, John Nathaniel Blackard and Ann Elizabeth Wilkins.
Tom was always a tobacco man, growing up farming, to working in the industry for decades. He was always an independent and social man who loved to call and visit friends he had met over the years. Tom was generous and always offered to help family and friends anyway that he could.
Tom will be missed dearly.
All are welcome to attend the graveside services at Red House Presbyterian Church on Saturday March 15th at 3pm. The family will receive friends and family at his home following the service.
