Thomas N. Borgeson

Thomas N. Borgeson, affectionately known as Tom, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, PA, at the age of 89. Born on October 14, 1935, in Elkland, PA, Tom lived a life full of passion, education, and adventure.

Tom pursued his passion for education by graduating from Elkland High School, and after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mansfield Teachers College (now Mansfield University) and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Syracuse University. These achievements laid the foundation for his impactful career. Tom dedicated much of his life to education, having taught chemistry at Troy High School beginning in 1958 and teaching for 40 years. His commitment to teaching and inspiring young minds was unwavering throughout his extensive career. In addition to his work in the classroom, Tom was an accomplished aviation instructor and proudly owned his own plane, which fueled his love for flight and exploration. In his later years Tom volunteered at Rainbow Riders and the Bradford County Manor (Bradford Hills).

A man of varied interests, Tom found joy in photography, capturing life's moments through his lens. He cherished traveling with his beloved wife, Agnes, and their daughters, Angie and Julie, creating unforgettable memories across America. Tom also enjoyed deer hunting and small game hunting with his Springer Spaniels. Tom's faith in God was an integral part of his life. He was a good man with a sincere, quiet spirit that guided his life.

Tom leaves behind a loving extended family, including sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Arlene and Steve Gates of Gillett, PA, and Janice and Darryl Rebuck of Montoursville, PA, along with several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon R. and Winifred (Elliott) Borgeson; his cherished wife, Agnes H. Borgeson, who passed away on December 27, 2022; and his beloved daughters, Julie Ann Borgeson and Angela Sue Borgeson.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Thursday July 24, 2025 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., located at 1093 W Main St, Troy, PA. The memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 12:00 PM on July 24th at the funeral home . In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to Rainbow Riders PO Box 122, Troy, PA.
